Tainter is a town located in Dunn County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,116.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 92.4 km² (35.7 mi²). 85.5 km² (33.0 mi²) of it is land and 6.9 km² (2.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.51% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 2,116 people, 845 households, and 632 families residing in the town. The population density is 24.8/km² (64.1/mi²). There are 993 housing units at an average density of 11.6/km² (30.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.72% White, 0.05% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 0.52% from two or more races. 0.38% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 845 households out of which 31.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.2% are married couples living together, 4.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% are non-families. 19.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
