The song "Reinventing the Wheel to Run Myself Over" was featured on Burnout 3: Takedown.

The song "Grenade Jumper" is about a close friend of the band, Chris Gutierrez.

The album lyrics were generally about a girl from Chicago that Pete Wentz had a crush on, making him the main lyricist with the exception of "Saturday" and "Calm Before The Storm", which were written by Patrick Stump. Of the former, Patrick has said this was the song he worked hardest on. While the latter had first been released on Fall Out Boy's Evening Out With Your Girlfriend, which Patrick wrote all the songs for.
