Takikawa (滝川市; -shi) is a city located in Sorachi, Hokkaido, Japan.


As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 45,977 and the density of 396.97 persons per km˛. The total area is 115.82 km&sup2.


The city was founded on July 1, 1958.

Takikawa is the hometown of Takenobu Igarashi, world-famous designer and sculptor, and the source of the greatest pride of the people of Takikawa.
Inviting Takenobu Igarashi and other lecturers through his network, we are planning to hold various events to study the meaning and necessary skills of design and art in urban design.
We are further cultivating the local environment by the renovation of an old stone warehouse, Tarokichigura, near Takikawa station.
