His Holiness Tamala Krishna Gosvami Maharaja (1946-2002), was born Thomas G. Herzig in the United States. He was an ISKCON Governing Body Commissioner (1970-2002) [1], an initiating spiritual master from 1977 to 2002 and an articulate Gaudiya Vaishnava Theologian. He began his association with ISKCON in 1968 when he was accepted as a disciple by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and soon emerged as a leader in ISKCON, establishing temples in France, Britain, India and the United States [2]. As one of Srila Prabhupada's senior disciples, he often served as Srila Prabhupada personal secretary.
