The Tanana Valley is the lowland region in central Alaska in the United States, on the north side of the Alaska Range where the Tanana River emerges from the mountains.


The region suffers great extremes of temperature during the year. During the winter months, the air is prone to stratification leading to thick fogs. During the summer, the surrounding plains are generally marshlike.


The Tanana Valley is the most populated area of Alaska north of the Alaska Range. Communities in the Tanana Valley include

Tanana is the host school to this tournament which is the premier wrestling tournament in the state of Alaska.
The Tanana Invitational Wrestling Tournament is the largest annual school sponsored sporting event in the state of Alaska and is considered by many to be the "unofficial junior high state tournament".
Tanana placed seven wrestlers in the finals of the Invitational and ammased 300 points to outdistance Wasilla (221) for the team title.
