Tareen is an important tribe of Pashtuns. Tareens are settled in pishin harnai dukhi gulistan in balochistan and Hazara Division of the N.W.F.P of Pakistan . They are present in sizeable proportions in the areas near Qandhar in Afghanistan. They had played some very important role in Mohammad Ghori's Army and showed great breavery. The Tareens of Hazara Division migerated from Qandhar in 17th century AD under the leadership of Sher Khan Tareen. After the attacks led by Ahmed Shah Abdali of Kabul, Durranis had a firm grip over this region. Later on Ahmed Shah Abdali also conquered Kashmir. Durranis were not interested to directly rule this region because they knew there are already some prominent Pashtun Tribes are present, so they considered it wise to give control to popular personalities. Amongst these great personalities were Najeebullah Khan Tareen, Sa'adat Khan Swati, Zaka khan aka Sooba Khan Tanoli and some others. Tareens have some great brave history with other Pashtun tribes of Hazara Division against Sikhs in the Sikh riegn. People like Mohammad Khan Tareen and Bostan Khan Tareen are the heroes for the whole Pashtuns. Haripur (N.W.F.P) is the main District of Tareen Tribe in the region. Mostly they speak Hindko in Hazara division but the spoken language of Tareens in Balochistan is Pashto. The famous khels and subsections of the Tareen tribe are Taur, Speen, Abdaal, Taranzai, Mangalzai, Bedalzai and Ferozzai. Tareen began his research in the summer 2003 while he was interning for Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND) in Washington, D.C. During the internship, Tareen attended a committee hearing which featured the topic of Sept. 11 immigrant detainees.
