Tariffville is a census-designated place located in Hartford County, Connecticut. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 1,371.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.7 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.15% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 1,371 people, 618 households, and 376 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 867.8/km² (2,260.3/mi²). There are 638 housing units at an average density of 403.8/km² (1,051.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 92.41% White, 2.70% African American, 0.29% Native American, 2.04% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 2.26% from two or more races. 1.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 618 households out of which 29.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.1% are married couples living together, 11.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.0% are non-families. 33.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.22 and the average family size is 2.87.
