Tarnów is a city in south-eastern Poland with 121,500 inhabitants (1995).

Situated in the Lesser Poland Voivodship (since 1999), previously capital of Tarnów Voivodship (1975–1998).

Many Tarnow Jews fled to the east, while a large influx of refugees from elsewhere in Poland continued to increase the town's Jewish population.
