Techkriti is the annual science and technology festival of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Techkriti is held every February for a period of four days. Over the years, Techkriti has grown into one of the largest festivals of its kind in Asia. Events like International Online Programming Contest and International Online Hacking Contest draw a good amount of international participation. GCOSE GCOSE(Grand Challenges of Science and Engineering) is an initiative taken this Techkriti. GCOSE is organized to foster scientific thinking, to make students aware of all the latest going on in the worls of science and technology. It is a stage where esteemed scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs talk to the student participants and motivate them.
International Events IOPC(International Online Programming Contest) and IOHC(International Online Hacking Contest) are the International Events organized under the banner of Techkriti by IIT Kanpur.
IOPC IOPC is the 24-hour online programming contest which IIT Kanpur organizes under the flagship of Techkriti. IOPC was born with the Techkriti 2004. With the IOPC 2005, it came to be recognized as a truly global event with participation from the best programming enthusiasts in the global students’ community. Today, IOPC is known for its original and challenging problems. Here are some facts about the IOPC 2007: - Total number of registered teams = 634
- Total number of submissions = 2215
- Total teams in the rank list = 120
- Total teams which solved at least two problems = 53
- Teams which submitted atleast one problem = 198
- Total teams from outside India in top 10 = 8
- Duration of contest (in hrs)= 24
IOPC '08 shall start on 9th February 2008 1400 hrs IST (GMT +0530) and shall end at 10th February 2008 1400 hrs IST (GMT +0530)
IOHC IOHC is the 12-hour online hacking contest which IIT Kanpur organizes under the flagship of Techkriti. The IOHC problems generally reflect the basic security principles and their understanding. The aim of the contest is to promote the learning of computer networking, cryptography, etc through their applications in hacking. The problems that are used in IOHC are original and designed to get people to think beyond the mundane problems of computing. These are some facts about the IOHC 2007: - Total number of registered teams = 293

- Total teams which solved at least four problems = 36
- Teams which submitted atleast one problem = 198
- Duration of contest (in hrs)= 12
IOHC '08 shall start on 15th February 2008 1800 hrs IST (GMT +0530) and shall end at 16th February 2008 0600 hrs IST (GMT +0530)
Software Corner All competitions testing the software skills of the participants are clubbed under the heading Software Corner. These include A.I. contest (Gimmick), on the spot algorithm contest (Instant), new API learning contest (Chaos), open software showcase event (Open Software Contest) among others.
Techkriti 08 Techkriti 08, to be held from 14th to 17th February 2008, is expecting a participation of over 10,000 students from above 600 colleges and more than a 1000 international participants. Festival will be conducted during the tenure of Kesri Reddy Ashwin as the General Secretary, Science and Technology Council of the Students' Gymkhana, IIT Kanpur. The festival Chairman is Dr. Rajat Moona and the Event Managers are Shubham Gupta and Sharad Lahoti. Techkriti 07 Techkriti 2007 was held at IIT Kanpur campus from February 22 to 25, 2007. The event was branded as Techkriti Oh-Seven! This festival was conducted during the tenure of Saumya Jain as the General Secretary, Science and Technology Council of the Students' Gymkhana, IIT Kanpur. The festival Chairman was Dr. Rajat Moona and the Event Manager was Rakshit Kachhal.
