As it is intended to serve as a linguistic dictionary, the Tehuelche lexemes are described phonologically, grammatically and semantically by means of a metalanguage.
In view of the state of imminent disappearance of the language and the culture of the ethnic group, it was deemed necessary to document all ethnographic data that could be found.
This collection is intended to contribute to the study of the indigenous languages of South America, and to further the interest in the highly endangered linguistic heritage of this underdocumented part of the world.
