Tekax - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (81 words)
Tekax, sometimes spelled Tecax, is a small city in Yucatán state, Mexico, located at 20°20′N 89°28′W.
Tekax (pronounced [ˌte ˈkaʃ]) means "Place of the Forests" in the Yucatec Maya language.
Tekax was briefly declared the capital of Yucatan in 1845.

When the town of Tekax became a village in 1823, it was granted a flag, which was first hoisted the October-28 morning.
At the time Tekax was one of the five constituent Yucatán districts.
The present-day Tekax coat of arms was adopted on December 4, 1991, date when is celebrated the 150th aniversary since Tekax was declared a city.
