Television X advertises itself as showing all that it can show, but due to UK television censorship, the amount that can be shown is less than that of hardcore pornography. • Direct eyeline of penetration. This includes any part of the body being penetrated and by anything.
• Erections
• Direct tongue to genital contact. In the case of fellatio the view is normally blocked by an arm, a leg, or the act is filmed from behind. In the case of cunnilingus, a 'top down' view can be used, but a direct view of the tongue touching the vagina is never shown.
• Ejaculation on to the face. Ejactulation on to other parts of the body is acceptable, but ejaculation onto the face is never shown 'during', only 'after'.

As a result of these restrictions, programming tends to be reliant on drawn out situations, restrictive camera angles and the actors / actress constantly describing the current activity to compensate for the viewer not actually being allowed to see it.

Future on Top Up TV

Since July 2006, Television X has been broadcasting pay-per-night via the Xtraview Encryption System. This is expected because Top Up TV will be ceasing to broadcast most of its general streamed channels (and the general encryption system used to protect them, see Top Up TV), therefore a viewing card is no longer required to view the channel. In recent months several online services have sprung up offering free membership codes for users. Many of them, however, simply offer free release codes for nightly viewings. The services are relatively easy to use but they operate in a legal grey area[1].

Additional incentives

The channel also offers Television X Web TV to all subscribers of the channel. This allows viewers to watch video streaming of their favourite shows 24 hours a day via their computer on www.televisionx.co.uk.

Other names

It was also known as The Fantasy Channel for a long time, although it has since dropped that name.
