Telford is a borough located in Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 4,680.

Geography

Telford is located at 40°19'29" North, 75°19'41" West (40.324786, -75.328045)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 4,680 people, 1,930 households, and 1,200 families residing in the borough. The population density is 1,789.1/km² (4,618.2/mi²). There are 1,977 housing units at an average density of 755.8/km² (1,950.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 92.48% White, 1.30% African American, 0.02% Native American, 3.76% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.13% from other races, and 1.28% from two or more races. 3.61% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,930 households out of which 29.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.1% are married couples living together, 8.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.8% are non-families. 33.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.34 and the average family size is 3.00.

In the borough the population is spread out with 23.0% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 33.2% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 18.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 88.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.5 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $45,451, and the median income for a family is $56,809. Males have a median income of $38,750 versus $28,387 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $22,075. 4.7% of the population and 2.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.3% of those under the age of 18 and 5.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
