Career After auditioning for BET’s “New Faces” search in New York City and not making the cut, he headed to the next audition in Atlanta the next day where he won over BET executives. They could not believe that this young man had driven all the way from New York City, wearing the same clothes to this audition, in order to make it on time. The executives knew then that he had the determination and passion to make it in this strenuous business.
Terrence J outshone over 5,000 applicants and was chosen as one of 10 finalists in the “New Faces” search. It was then that he knew the pressure was on. Being surrounded by 9 other hopefuls - many having already landed commercial gigs or worked in professional radio - Terrence J had to go extra hard. “I put everything on the line for this…my job, my company, my home and I couldn’t leave empty handed,” said the 106 host. “It's amazing what you can do when you have no options - and the only choice I had was to win!” And win he did; Terrence J made the final cut and became the newest co-host of 106 & Park.
In 2006, Terrence J began co-hosting BET’s nationally syndicated radio show 106 & Park Weekend Countdown, which airs in over 35 markets.

Businessman Big dreams, determination, and one stroke of luck have allowed the Jenkins Entertainment Group to flourish into what is now one of the most sought after event planning companies in the industry.
At age 18, Terrence Jenkins and half-brother Frederick Whitaker decided to move from New York to North Carolina in order to attend the Historically Black College North Carolina A&T State University. Terrence quickly made a name for himself on campus by working on the college radio station. He would eventually receive offers to host different events with local promoters, however, Terrence and Fred realized their promotional plans were flawed and they needed a fresh new approach. The two came together and developed a business plan in which they would utilize Fred’s business savvy, money management, and negotiation techniques along with Terrence’s marketing prowess, communication skills, and charisma to lay the groundwork for what would later become Jenkins Entertainment Group.
The two went on to host a variety of events, book signings across the state, commercial radio, and would soon become members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Things continued to go well for the two when Terrence became Student Body President and landed a marketing internship with NASCAR.
After they graduated from college they found it difficult to branch out into other markets and had to put their dreams of running their own business on hold. After a year of trying to mastermind how they would make their way back onto the scene, Fred heard about the BET “New Faces” search and convinced Terrence to audition to be a co-host on 106 & Park. When the brothers caught wind that Terrence was selected out of thousands of applicants, they knew they were that much closer to making their dreams come true.
With Terrence’s newfound fame, the brothers were able to start their business back up. During its first year back in operation, Jenkins Entertainment Group grossed over $500,000.00. Jenkins Entertainment Group specializes in the following: hosting, consulting and formulating marketing plans – all the necessities to make any event successful. The duo is booked well into 2008 and is in heavy negations with several Fortune 500 companies to plan events to connect them with urban America.
