Middle Ages

16th century

  • Hernán Cortés, after hearing rumors of plots to kill him, massacres the inhabitants of Cholula and burns down the city.

17th century

18th century

  • 1773, USA : The Boston Tea Party was one of the first colonists' rebellious acts of the American Revolution. Today, the FBI classifies this as an act of terrorism, under destruction of property for purposes of political coercion.

The September 11th attacks are among the most significant events to have occurred so far in the 21st century in terms of the profound economic, social, political, cultural and military effects that followed in the United States and many other parts of the world.
The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks upon the United States, known as the 9-11 Commission, released its report on July 22, 2004, concluding that the attacks were conceived and implemented by al-Qaeda operatives.
The attacks were denounced world-wide, with the headline of Paris, France's "Le Monde" newspaper being prototypical: "Today We Are All Americans." Approximately one month after the attacks the USA led a wide coalition of international forces into Afghanistan in pursuit of al-Qaeda forces.
Fatal Terrorist Attacks in Israel Since the Declaration of Principles (12464 words)
From the signing of the Declaration of Principles between Israel and the PLO on September 13, 1993, until September 2000, 256 civilians and soldiers were killed in terrorist attacks in Israel.
Yael Meivar, 25, died of gunshot wounds sustained in a terrorist attack on Dec 31, 1997 near the settlement of Alei Zahav in Samaria.
One of the terrorists was killed at the scene; the second, wearing an explosives belt, fled in the direction of a nearby school when he was shot and killed by a soldier and police officer.
