Testerep was an island along the Belgian coast. Fishing villages were scattered about, among them were Oostende and Westende. Oostende being the far east (Oost-ende: east-end) and Westende the far west of the island. Later, the sea level dropped and the island became connected to the Belgian coast. Naam/trefwoord b.v Hotel of Muller N.V. Oostende is een plaats en stad in de Belgische provincie West-Vlaanderen, die ongeveer centraal aan de Belgische kust ligt.
Oorspronkelijk lag het op een eiland (Testerep) voor de Vlaamse kust, en was het het meest oostelijke dorp ervan (vandaar de naam).
Aan de andere kant lag Westende en in het midden lag Middelkerke.
