In demonology Thammuz is a demon of low category, considered inventor of the Inquisition, fire guns, artillery, and the one that stimulates men to torture other people. Some treatises on demonology say that he is the ambassador of Hell to Spain.

According to some demonologists of the 16th century his power is stronger in September.

His name was surely taken from the Semitic Tammuz.
