Thank God He Met Lizzie (1997) is a movie starring Cate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh. A romantic comedy, it was the directorial debut of Cherie Nowlan. In the United States, the film was released as The Wedding Party.



It revolves around two stories, firstly the upcoming wedding of Lizzie (Cate) and Guy (Richard) and a second story in flashback of Guy's previous relationship with Jenny (Frances O'Connor).

Guy and Lizzie finally have a moment of silence in the limo, but we can see on their faces that they have realized the mistake.
Though we see her as the more rigid, boring one of the two women, she still manages to convey a sense of warmth which allows us to at least understand that she is a good person, and why Guy would want to marry her.
