FACTOID # 53: If you thought Antarctica was inhospitable, think again - its land area is only ninety-eight percent ice. Reassuringly, the other 2% is categorised as "barren rock".

Encyclopedia > The Amazing Kreskin

George Kresge, better known as The Amazing Kreskin, (b. January 12, 1935) is a stage magician and mentalist, popular on U.S. television in the 1970s. Perhaps his best known trick is finding the check for his performance fee, which he instructs his hosts to hide before each show. He has only rarely failed to find the check.

The Celebrity Collector - Amazing Kreskin (1634 words)
Kreskin is a voracious reader, consuming up to four books a night, and his massive library includes comic books, pulp novels and manuscripts.
Kreskin was gifted the volumes by Jaks' estate when Jaks died, and said no to an offer of $1.25 million for them soon after.
Another figure that holds great fascination for Kreskin is Howard Thurston, the magician and illusionist who gained some degree of fame in the first part of the last century and died in the 1930s.
"Amazing Kreskin" (1085 words)
Kreskin, in his typically ingratiating and self-promoting manner, began the TV show by mentioning that Johnny Carson's "Carnac is a satire of me" (but not a word about his own routine being modeled after that of the 1940s and early '50s magician "The Great Dunninger").
Kreskin, of course, correctly "divined" the message, but NCAS members later recovered the scraps while Kreskin was backstage, compared the handwriting on the message to Kreskin's own, and published their findings (with photos) in their Winter 1990-91 Skeptical Eye.
Kreskin lined up the five items across the desktop, and after having Fountain momentarily close her eyes as he passed his hand in front of her face (adding an element of 'mysticism' to the proceedings), he asked her to "touch one of the items" (she picked up the ring).
