The Autocrats

The Autocrats (Itsevaltiaat) is a Finnish political satire TV series, which takes the viewer behind the scenes of the politics of Finland. The series is produced by Filmiteollisuus and is made using 3D computer animation. The original idea for the series came from producer Olli Haikka. As of May 14, 2005, 154 episodes have been aired which is about 38 hours of footage. Autocrats enjoy a marked advantage over the average citizen in their ability to shape institutions and political events.
The catch, however, is that, to remain secure, autocrats must raise the costs of political coordination among the opposition without also raising the costs of economic coordination too dramatically—and thus stymie economic growth and threaten the stability of the regime.
