Biography The Blackout formed in 2003 in South Wales and drawing influences from across the board, they combine guitars, screams and drums and vocals. The band has played shows in and around the UK with the likes of Lostprophets, Funeral for a Friend, Avenged Sevenfold, Reuben, The Used, Dredg, 18 Visions, Thrice and Hidden in Plain View as well as opening up 'Give It a Name Festival' in April 2006. Currently the band are recording their debut album in Long Wave studio in South Wales. The album is expected to be released October 1st 2007. As of May 2007 known working titles for songs for the new album include 'I Know You Are! But What Am I?', 'Spread Legs Not Lies!', 'This Ain't No Seven Minutes I Ever Spent' and 'Prepare For A Wound' (P4AW). A demo of the latter used to be found on the band's Myspace. The band's myspace background has recently changed to the theme of the next album. On July 2 it was announced on the operation 4am myspace blog that the album would be released 24th September 2007 and also announced a 13 date UK tour starting 2nd October - Wedgewood Rooms - Portsmouth and finishing 17th October - Rescue Rooms - Nottingham stopping off in their home country for a date in Cardiff - Solus Bar - on the 16th October. On this tour they will be accompanied by other bands such as Flood of Red(for the whole of the tour) and Pierce the Veil. - In December 2006 The Blackout won best new welsh act at the Pop Factory awards held in the Coal Exchange in Cardiff bay. The awards ceremony was televised on ITV1 Wales.
- The Blackout were main support for lostprophets on their "Liberation Transmission Phase One" tour, and were also opening support on the last four dates of the "Liberation Transmission Phase Two" tour.
- Singer Sean Smith does guest vocals on the song "Everyday Combat" on lostprophets' Liberation Transmission album (credited as "Sean Blackout").
- Ian Watkins, singer of lostprophets returned the favour by featuring on the track "It's High Tide Baby!".
