The Digital Village (TDV) was a digital media company based in Covent Garden, London WC2 in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1994. The science-fiction/comedywriterDouglas Adams was one of the founding members, along with Robbie Stamp, who is the Executive Producer of the forthcoming Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie, which is currently in production.
TDV produced the computer gameStarship Titanic, and started H2G2, a community site dedicated to producing what is referred to as the Earth edition of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
TDV was closed in 2001, following the dotcom crash. h2g2, and a proportion of the staff moved to bbc.co.uk.
After Adams's sudden death on May 11, 2001, TDV ceased to exist as a registered company.
