The Ding Dongs gimmick was the brainchild of then WCW head Jim Herd who was constantly creating "cartoon"-like gimmicks to compete with the more nationally recognized World Wrestling Federation. It was a gimmick of two masked wrestlers with bells on their costume. Whenever one of the wrestlers began to wear down or was losing the match, the other Ding Dong would ring a little bell that would "pump up" his partner.
