The Ferryman from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

The Ferryman is a character (or multiple characters) from the Castlevania video game series. His role in the games is simple: he waits to transport the hero across a river. Sometimes it requires specific items, but nevertheless, he'll take the hero where the hero needs to go.

It is somewhat obvious that The Ferryman was based about the Greek Mythology character, Charon. Charon was the ferryman of Hades, transporting people across the river(s) of Hell. He required a price, a greek coin called obolus. The price is very similar to the item requirement in the Castlevania games as well.

Their departure from the Ship was delayed by Lilly asking for a drink of whisky and the ferryman Whatty, who apparently had now come to the inn for them, having threepennyworth of rum.
His death certificate, dated 25 December 1880, records his death as "accidentally drowned by the sinking of his ferryboat." Lilly was captain of the steam tug North Star of Hayle and his wife was expecting their fourth child soon.
Edwin Whatty's son-in-law, Charles Neilsson, a Norwegian who lived in Lelant, was appointed as ferryman by Praed and keeper of the harbour lights at Lelant by Harveys, a practical kindness by the respective owners, to help the family.
