In the fictional Farscape universe, The Gammak base is a Gammak base built by the peacekeepers in the Unchartered Territories, not long before the events of the Farscape episode "A Bug's Life". Its main use was to research wormhole technology for the Peacekeepers. Location
The Gammak base was located on a grey moon in orbit around a gas giant. The gas giant had a rather large asteroid field surrounding it, in which it was quite possible to hide ships without them being easily discoverable. Bulk composition of the moons mantle and crust estimated, weight percent Oxygen 42. ...

The asteroid belt is a region of the solar system falling roughly between the planets Mars and Jupiter where the greatest concentration of asteroid orbits can be found. ...
Entry Procedure The base itself was underground, and had less sensors than one would normally expect from such a base, in order to disguise its whereabouts. Normally, a peacekeeper wishing to land at the base would have to identify themselves before being given permission to land, however these procedures were sometimes waived with very important personnel for increased security.
History Not much is known about the history of the base before the events of "Nerve". The base was used for various things, including making weapons, researching an intelligent virus which moves quickly between hosts until nobody knows who it is in, and, most importantly, research of wormhole technology. In "Nerve", John Crichton, Aeryn Sun, Ka D'Argo, Zotoh Zhaan, Dominar Rygel XVI and Chiana travelled aboard the Leviathan Moya to the asteroid field surrounding the gas giant. Their mission was to infiltrate the Gammak base and retrieve a tissue sample in order to cure Aeryn Sun of a damaged nerve. John Robert Crichton, Jr. ...

John Crichton, disguised as Captain Larraq, and Chiana, travelled to the base from Moya in a Prowler. On approach, they were asked to identify themselves, however they did not, citing security reservations as their reasons. Eventually, they were given a landing vector, and docked at the Gammak base. On arrival, they were greeted by Tollona Javio and Lieutenant Heskon, and John (as Larraq) was asked for his ident chip. This was easy, since Chiana had stolen a highest-clearance chip from the real Larraq. However, it looked like the end for them when Larraq was asked to pass a genetic scan; but this too was sorted because Gilina Renaez had joined their side. Gilina synthesized some parapheral tissue for them, and John and Chiana were about to escape when they were stopped by Farscape, a very important person in the base. Scorpius used a device within the base known as the Aurora Chair to probe John's mind and discover that he had knowledge of wormhole technology. He then contacted Bialar Crais to try to provide John with some incentive to stop resisting the Aurora Chair. When Crais arrived in his Command Carrier, he lied to Crichton about having his friends in custody and threatened him with their lives in order to get him to stop resisting the Chair. Gilina contacted Crichton through a security camera, however Crichton asked Chiana to return the tissue sample to Moya, and so Chiana left the base in the prowler, with the help of Gilina who caused a diversion with a disguise, an evacuation warning and a targeting system blind spot. On her way out, she had to kill Commander Javio, who had realised her true identity. In "The Hidden Memory", Aeryn Sun, Zotoh Zhaan and Ka D'Argo travelled to the Gammak base in Moya's transport pod, Aeryn Sun having been completely healed. Once they landed, Aeryn descended to the underground base via an access shaft, out of view of any sensors. Gilina hacked into the Aurora Chair and presented a false memory of Crichton giving Crais the wormhole technology in return for his life. Crais said that this was false, so Scorpius put Crais in the Chair to reveal the real truth, showing Scorpius some fairly dark parts of Crais's past. However this was cut short, because Aeryn and Gilina had helped Crichton and Stark escape. Stark is a fictional character on the television science fiction series Farscape played by Paul Goddard. ...
After hiding in an underfloor compartment for a long time, the four left for the access shaft which Aeryn had used to access the base in the first place. In the ensuing firefight on the moon's surface, Gilina was wounded, and subsequently died aboard Moya. Meanwhile, Moya gave birth to a son within the asteroid field. In "Bone to be Wild", Scorpius moved himself and some of his staff from the base to Crais's command carrier, which he took control of. |
