Encyclopedia > The Goose Steps Out

The Goose Steps Out is a zany knockabout British comedy film made in 1942. This film starred, and was co-directed by the popular British comedian Will Hay. A World War II related story, the plot revolves around Hay's character 'William Potts' being an exact double of a German general. Potts is flown into Nazi Germany to impersonate his double (with suitably hilarious consequenses).

This film was one in a series of Will Hay movies which were as well-liked in the British Cinema of that time as the Marx Brothers were in Hollywood.
