Plot
The Krusty Krab closes, and Squidward is excited (Because it just closed), but Mr. Krabs realises that more profit would be gained if it was open 24 hours a day, so he does that. SpongeBob is really excited, while Squidward is extremely annoyed. Squidward scares SpongeBob with tales of the Hash-Slinging Slasher. According to Squidward, he was a frycook at the Krusty Krab many years ago just like SpongeBob, but only clumsier. One night, when he was making Krabby Patties, it happened. He didn't forget the secret sauce, he never forgot to wash his hands, and he didn't put irregular portions in, but worse than that, he accidentally cut off his own hand, and later replaced it with a rusty spatula. He was run over by a bus, and fired at his funeral. Every Tuesday night, his ghost comes to 'wreak his horrible vengeance'. There are three signs of his arrival, which are: - 1 - The lights will flicker on and off.
- 2 - The phone will ring, and there will be nobody there.
- 3 - He will arrive in the ghost of the bus which ran him over, and he crosses the road without looking both ways, because he's already dead. He opens the door, he slowly goes near the counter. Then, he gets one of the employees.
SpongeBob is scared of the story, and screams repeatedly, while Squidward laughs. Squidward is annoyed because of SpongeBob's screaming. He tells him to stop screaming and says that he was joking. SpongeBob says "Oh...", then starts laughing hysterically. Later that night, everything that Squidward said will happen earlier actually happens. He and SpongeBob are really scared, until they find out that the so-called Hash-Slinging Slasher is actually a person who wants a job application, and hung up on the phone because he was nervous. This last revelation seems to explain everything, but suddenly the lights begin flickering on and off again! Everybody looks around, panicked, when suddenly they see... Count Orlok, a.k.a. Nosferatu (in a doctored image) rapidly flipping the light switch. Everybody points at him and shouts a friendly "NOSFERATU!", after which Orlok (in another doctored image) smiles at them mischievously. Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (A Symphony of Horror in German) is a German Expressionist film shot in 1922 by F.W. Murnau. ...

Quotes - Tom: (Knocks at door) Hi, are you open?
- Squidward: Read the sign! (Points to the sign, clearly marked "closed")
- Tom: I'll have a Krabby Patty Deluxe, and a Double Chili Kelp Fry
- Squidward: No, you won't! I can't hang out here all night! I've got a life.
- Tom: Well, fine, if you don't want our money...
- Mr. Krabs: Money?! (He falls down from the ceiling and lands on Squidward) You mean if we stayed open later, you'd give us some money?
- Tom: (He and two people take out some money) Yes.
- Mr. Krabs: Mr. Squidward, welcome to the night shift! From now on, the Krusty Krab is open 24 hours a day!
- Squidward: WHAT? (A crowd barges into the Krusty Krab and step on Squidward)
- SpongeBob: Wow! Now we never have to stop working!
- Squidward: Mr. Krabs!
- Mr. Krabs: See you in the morning, boys! I can’t hang out here all night, I've got a life.
- Squidward: Mr. Krabs!
- SpongeBob: Isn’t this great, Squidward? Just me and you together for hours and hours and hours and then the sun will come up and it'll be tomorrow and we'll still be working! (gasps) It'll be just like a sleepover! Except we'll be sweaty and covered with grease! Are you ready to rock, Squidward?
- Squidward: No.
- SpongeBob: Good! 'Cause we've got customers! (SpongeBob goes to the kitchen and Squidward hands a guy in line a bat)
- Squidward: Here. Hit me as hard as you can.
- SpongeBob: Psst, Squidward. I’m working in the kitchen! (chuckles) At night!
- Squidward: Don’t hold back. (tilts head on counter)
- Squidward: Who wants to eat a Krabby Patty at three in the morning?! (Inside Patrick's rock, Patrick is woken up by his alarm clock at 3:00 AM)
- Patrick: Oh, boy, 3:00 AM! (pulls off his blanket to reveal a Krabby Patty and eats it)
- (The Hash Slinging Slasher is about to get SpongeBob and Squidward)
- Squidward: You know what, SpongeBob? I always sort of liked you!
- SpongeBob: Squidward, I used your clarinet to unclog my toilet.
- Squidward: Huh?
- SpongeBob: NO! GET AWAY! I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE! NO, GET AWAY! GET AWAY! (the Hash Slinging Slasher reveals itself to be a harmless nerd fish)
- Nerd Fish: Can I get a job application? I brought my own spatula. I called earlier but I hung up, because I was nervous.
- SpongeBob: (suddenly composed and cheerful) Do you have references?
- Squidward: (Nervously) "Okay, what was it? There was the lights, (Lights flicker) the phone, (Phone rings) and... (Squidward turns around to see green ooze coming from the walls) THE WALLS WILL OOZE GREEN SLIME?!?! Oh wait, they always do that. But what was the third thing?" (A bus pulls up and someone gets off)
- SpongeBob: Hey, I didn't know the buses ran this late!
- Squidward: (Nervously) They don't!
- SpongeBob Wow Squidward. I didnt know that you would go to the trouble to dress up as a ghostly fry-cook and stand on the other side of the road just to entertain me! You must really like me!
- Squidward SpongeBob, there are two problems with your theory. One, I hate you; and two, how can that be me, if I'm STANDING RIGHT HERE??!!
- (Squidward is sitting at the register, reading a book. A strange suction-cup like sound is heard, but Squidward doesn't seem to care. The sound is heard again, and Squidward seems to be a little frightened. It is heard a third time and Squidward seems to be scared. The camera zooms out to reveal SpongeBob walking on the ceiling via suction cups on his shoes with a mop and bucket of water. SpongeBob startles Squidward)
- SpongeBob: Isn't this great, Squidward? There's never time to wash the ceiling during the day!
