The Harris Museum is regarded as one of Preston's finest museums. The collections include the story of Preston which gives a historical account of the city and Lancashire.


The museum also contains a fine art gallery containing paintings by many local artists.


Amongst the fine works of art and historical artifacts there is a full size elk skeleton.

Teenie Harris' photographs are unsurpassed in the range of subjects they portray and for their ability to evoke the spirit of an era and to display the humanity of a people.
Harris' 40-year career with the Pittsburgh Courier, one of the largest and most influential Black newspapers in the country, began as the nation emerged from the Depression and ended with the Civil Rights Movement.
The museum is in the process of cataloguing and digitizing the images and plans to present a major retrospective on Harris' work in 2009.
