The Kentucky Headhunters created a hybrid of honky-tonk, blues and Southern rock that appealed to fans of both rock and country music. While they were only officially together for a few albums, the band nevertheless left a long shadow. A Honky tonk was originally a type of bar common throughout the southern United States, also called honkatonks, honkey-tonks, tonks or tunks. ... The Kentucky Headhunters - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (971 words)
The Kentucky Headhunters recorded a seven-song demo of original songs that became known as "the pink tape." Originally intended to be sold at their live shows, the pink tape came to the attention of the Nashville music community.
Although still billing themselves as The Kentucky Headhunters, the lineup was a reunion of Itchy Brother.
The Kentucky Headhunters latest album, Flying Under the Radar, was released on June 13, 2006.

Known for their "Dixie Fried" sound, the Kentucky grown band is as influenced by rock and blues as they have been by the bluegrass of their heritage.
In the spring of 1985 again in the south central region of Kentucky, Richard, Fred and Greg joined forces with Ricky Lee and Doug Phelps to create the Kentucky Headhunters.
For the third Headhunter album, Rave On, and an album made with legendary piano player, Johnnie Johnson, That'll Work, the band recruited their cousin Anthony Kenney on the Grass String Ranch was released by Audium/Koch.
