The Lexicon of Love was the acclaimed chart topping debut album by the British pop band ABC released in 1982. It is a concept album in which the singer experiences heartache as he tries and fails to have a meaningful relationship. It was produced by Trevor Horn and featured orchestration by future Art of Noise member Anne Dudley, whose orchestrations on the project led to work on Lloyd Cole and the Commotions Rattlesnakes (1984), and further arranging work which would culminate in her winning the Oscar for best original score (musical or comedy) for The Full Monty. In fact, most of the production team and sessions players listed below would form the basis for the ZTT label, and their work with Horn meant all concerned would be in constant demand throughout the industry in years to come. "Tears Are Not Enough" (in its initial release produced by Steve Brown), "All of My Heart", "Poison Arrow", and "The Look Of Love (Part One)" were all Top 20 hits in the UK; the last two also charted in the US. The album reached #1 on the British charts, and peaked at #24 in the U.S. charts. It has been reissued with an extra track. In 2004, a deluxe 2-disc reissue including outtakes and early demos and a live performance of the album from 1982 was released on the Neutron label. Image File history File links ABC-Lexicon. ... LEXICON OF LOVE (3694 words)
Rather than moving their expertise to the software plug-in market, Lexicon have incorporated their PCM90 reverb hardware into the new Studio recording system, and such is the desirability of the 'Lexicon sound' that many musicians have been eagerly awaiting the launch for this reason alone.
Lexicon have neatly side-stepped this problem, as well as winning many people over in the process, by working closely with Steinberg to ensure that the Lexicon Studio integrates well with their Cubase VST software (which already supports both Audio and MIDI in a single package).
Such is Lexicon's attention to detail that disposable anti-static wrist straps are provided for safe installation of the circuit boards, as well as a screw-on bracket to support the far end of the card.
