Plot Summary

At the beginning of the episode, Cliff and Claire Huxtable are preparing to leave for a weekend in the Poconos. Vanessa is leaving to spend the weekend with her friend Janet. Rudy and her friend Kenny are going to visit grandparents Russel and Anna for the weekend. This leaves Theo alone in the house. The Poconos, or the Pocono Mountains region, is a mountainous region of about 2,400 square miles (6,200 km²) located in northeastern Pennsylvania. ...

Soon afterwards, Theo's friends Howard and Denny learn that Theo has the home to himself. They manage to talk him into having a small gathering at the Huxtable home. The party, which Howard calls a colloquy would have six people - Theo, Howard, Denny, and their dates at 7:00pm. Just as Cliff and Claire leave the house for the weekend, the group arrives. Theo's girlfriend Justine is sick, but Howard and Denny have invited another girl named Amy to the party, they promise she would show up later. Another couple who Denny invited have also come along.

The party soon spirals out of control. A small gathering of six people has exploded into a gathering of over 100 people. Theo doesn't even know most of the people at the party, and the house is getting trashed. Amy arrives, the two of them go up to Cliff and Claire's bedroom to talk, only to find that someone had picked the lock to that room and that several couples are in the bedroom making out. To Theo's horror, the bathtub in the room is being used to store imported beer. Theo and Amy begin to talk, but are interrupted when someone gets stuck in the washing machine.

Later that night, the party comes to an end. Denny and Howard remain behind to help Theo clean up, they tell him they better start in the living room. Upon seeing the trashed condition of the living room, Theo remarks, "I'm dead."

The next day, Cliff and Claire arrive home. The living room apparently looks normal, and Cliff sits down on the couch. He then gently slaps the coffee table, which suddenly collapses. Theo, Denny, and Howard come out to see Theo's parents have come home. Theo puts the coffee table back on the list of things that couldn't be repaired. They explain the situation to Theo's parents, and hand the two page list to them.

Cliff takes Theo out to the army recruiter with the intent of forcing Theo to drop out of school and join the Army, but that apparently doesn't work out. He instead decides that since Theo likes serving people so much to have him go down every morning at 5am to work in a missionary for the next several weeks.
