Live Dispute

There is an ongoing dispute amongst blink-182 fans that contrary to the live nature of this album, many of the songs were over-dubbed or enhanced with better-sounding vocals and instrument tracks.

One aspect of the album that may point to some portions being rerecorded are the fact that Tom Delonge's voice differs between certain tracks on the album, one variety being the voice he usually produces during live performances, which is noticeably deeper than the other variety, a voice that resembles the voice he uses on the studio recordings of blink-182 songs. However, it should also be noted that not all tracks on the album were recorded from the same concert.

It's also been noted that certain songs have unusually mistake-free guitar sections, such as the lead riff to "What's My Age Again?" as well as "doubling" of the guitar tracks on parts of almost every song to enhance the dynamics and fullness of sound. This can be distinguished as one guitar is panned to the left, the other to the right, and thus leading to suspicion of either another live (hidden) guitarist, or over-dubbing in the mix down process, although it is more likely that the reason for this is that Delonge uses two amps at the same time and they were both panned, one left and one right.

Miscellaneous

  • At the end of "Aliens Exist", Mark adds the line "Tom has sex with guys," and during the song Tom replaces the line "I got an injection, of fear from the abduction. My best friend thinks I'm just telling lies" with "I got an injection, of blood from the erection. My best friend thinks I'm just humping guys."
  • During "What's My Age Again?", Mark replaces the line, "What's My Age Again?" with "Where's My Asian Friend", a reference to what the lyric was sometimes misheard to be. Tom echoes Mark's "sodomy" (sodom-me) with "sodom-you." Tom's guitar is tuned in F instead of the usual E. Also Mark sings "What the fuck is ADD?" instead of "What the hell is ADD?"
  • During some of the songs, more than one guitar playing can distinctly be heard.
  • At the end of What's My Age Again, Tom and Mark start with their stage antics, but they are uninterrupted when Tom notices a girl is flashing the band. You hear Mark and Tom saying,"boobies!","No!" You're way to young". The reason is because the girl flashing them was to young to be doing that.
  • During "Going Away to College," Mark changes the line "You're so beautiful to me" to "You're so beautiful, Skylee" in reference to his wife Skye Everly. The song is also played much faster than the studio recording on Enema Of The State.
  • During "Carousel", Mark replaces the line "I guess it's just another" with "I had sex with your mother."
  • The hidden letters in the artwork start here with an "F" appearing on Travis' Bass Drum. This was inserted to continue on with the alphabetical tradition of their album titles (A formed in Flyswatter, B for Buddha, C for Cheshire Cat, D for Dude Ranch, E for Enema Of The State, and then a G on the jacket on Take Off Your Pants and Jacket and an H formed by the right eye on Blink-182)
  • Although Mark and Tom usually sing a random song from another artist during the bridge of Dammit when they play it live, they don't sing anything in the version on this CD.
  • A studio version of "Family Reunion" can be heard on the punk compilation Short Songs For Short People, but "Blow Job" and "The Country Song" are not available on any other CD's.
