The Phalanx (also known as ThePhalanx.com) is a popular U.S. based- politcially oriented news commentary website. Generally, the site consists various topics extracted from the days headlines. The Phalanx Editors (TPE) comment on the news of the day from a libertarian point of view, usually providing links to stories from various news sites. Though the editors sometimes print general commentary, based on popular topics. The topics tend to focus around politics, popular culture, business, science and other unusual events of the day. The Phalanx began in Februrary 2005 and has garned much interest among political blogs since that time.

The Phalanx has been criticized for being overtly pro-American and pro-George W. Bush. But the editors of The Phalanx point out that the site was never intended to be impartial and they do critique both liberals and conservatives when they disagree with their policies. The Phalanx is a frequent critic of US energy policy, which they contend is too dependent on oil.

The format of The Phalanx is quite simple. The main page is known as “the Latest” and includes current stories and commentary on various news topics. The site also includes an archives (with previous posts), a commentary section as well as a page devoted to frequently asked questions.
