General information On June 28, 2007 the Spice Girls held a press conference at The O2 in London, formally announcing their intention to reunite as a group,[2] a plan that had long been speculated by the media.[3] During the press conference, the group laid out their plans to embark on a world concert tour that would be seen as a celebration of the group’s history and a final farewell to fans.[4] Victoria Caroline Beckham (née Adams; born 17 April 1974) is an English singer, songwriter, dancer, fashion designer, businesswoman, and occasional actress. ...

Initially eleven dates were announced and spanned North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa and South America and fans were informed that they had to pre-register for tickets on the group’s website. On September 30, the successful applicants for the Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Vancouver and London concerts were informed of how they could purchase their tickets, via email and text alerts, from valid ticket vendors. Demand was so high that many dates quickly sold out and three new dates in London were immediately announced after the first date at The O2 sold out in only 38 seconds.[5] Fans who had pre-registered for tickets were given 48 hours to purchase their tickets, after which they went on sale to the general public. In total, a further eighteen dates were announced in Britain and twenty in the United States and Canada. North American redirects here. ...

The Spice Girls' biggest international audience on the tour was New York/New Jersey area. The girls performed three shows in the New York area (two in Long Island - Nassau Coliseum, and one in Manhattan - Madison Square Garden), and three shows in the New Jersey area (two in Newark - Prudential Center, and one in East Rutherford - Izod Center), marking this the first time an act has ever played both the Prudential Center in Newark and the Izod Center in East Rutherford at one time, on the same tour. Due to the expansion of the British and North American legs of the tour, it was announced on 1 February that the end of the tour would take place in Toronto, on 26 February 2008. Dates in Asia, South America, Africa and Australia were cancelled due to touring logistics and personal commitments.[6] At the sold out concert at Madison Square Garden on February 18th in front of 12,000 fans it looks like the Show was recorded for a DVD. But no comments were made from the Spice Girls or their Management. There is wide speculation this will happen before the end of 2008, however. is the 32nd day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. ...

During the Madison Square Garden show on February 18, 2008, the crowd went wild when the Girls brought their kids up onstage during the song "Mama". The only child missing was Melanie Brown's 8-year-old daughter Phoenix who was spending time with her dad in LA. When they were up onstage Victoria Beckham's son Cruz, who turned 3 on February 20, 2008, upstaged the Spice Girls when he broke out in a very skilled break dancing routine. He started off bobbing his head to the music, then moving his arms around, then doing a handstand and spinning on his head. The Girls stopped singing during points in the song because they were laughing so hard. After they finished singing, Geri Halliwell's daughter Bluebell had her mum's mic and said "Mama, I love you." which were the lyrics of the song. The only other time they brought their kids up onstage altogether was December 18, 2007 in London only missing Bluebell and February 15, 2008, in Chicago, only missing Phoenix and Bluebell. During the final concert in Toronto, on February 26, 2008, Cruz joined the girls onstage again as well as Emma Bunton's son, Beau, and Melanie Brown's youngest daughter, Angel. Melanie C also had a surprise in store for the last concert and performed her famous Sporty Spice backflip on stage for the first time in years.
Audio by BBC Radio 2 BBC Radio 2 recorded both shows on December 15 & December 16 and compiled them into an hour-length "Highlights Special" which aired on 22 December and 31 December 2007. The 12 Track special kept the Introduction, and omitted The Lady Is A Vamp, Who Do You Think You Are, Let Love Lead The Way, the Celebration Medley, Goodbye and If U Can't Dance, as well as all of the girls individual solo songs (It's Raining Men for Geri Halliwell, I Turn To You for Melanie Chisholm, Maybe for Emma Bunton, Are You Gonna Go My Way for Melanie Brown and Like A Virgin/Supermodel medley for Victoria Beckham) is the 349th day of the year (350th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. ...

Critical response The Return of the Spice Girls Tour opened in Canada to largely rave reviews.[9] The Times compared the scenes on opening night to Beatlemania and remarked that the show was "colourful, energetic and wildly ambitious" and stated that "the Spice Girls have never been the world's greatest singers or dancers, but they remain consummate entertainers".[10] Despite not performing on stage for nearly nine years, critics argued that it was worth the wait[11] with the London Evening Standard concluding "that this is ebullient pop music of a very high standard, presented with panache, and highly unlikely to provoke any attendance at the refund window"[12] while The Mirror labelled the show an "unforgettable pop culture event" that was "camp, ridiculous, super-enthusiastic, beyond over the top - and absolutely amazing."[13] The Times is a national newspaper published daily in the United Kingdom (and the Kingdom of Great Britain before the United Kingdom existed) since 1788 when it was known as The Daily Universal Register. ...
