The Riverdales are an American punk rock music group. It was formed when the band Screeching Weasel broke up and members Ben Weasel (born Ben Foster), Danny Vapid (born Dan Shaefer) and Dan Panic (born Dan Sullivan) ended up without a band. They formed The Riverdales, with Ben on guitar, Vapid on bass, and Panic on drums. Their first album was released June 1996 on Lookout! Records and was produced by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and Mass Giorgini (from Squirtgun and Screeching Weasel). The Riverdales have released various albums with an old-school punk sound. The influence of Screeching Weasel sets the band apart from other Ramones soundalikes. Both Vapid and Weasel do the vocals. Panic left the group and was replaced by Dan Lumley, Screeching Weasel's other drummer.
