Sweet was in the ninth grade when he met the other bandmembers, all college students, at a music store. At that time the band was called Spectrum and had been covering Top 40 songs.[1] Around the time Sweet joined, they changed their name to the Specs. Besides Sweet, who played bass, other members included Rick Morris (guitar), Sara Kovanda (vocals), Don Holmquist (drums) and Jeff Runnings (keyboards).[2] They performed songs by bands such as the Jam, the Vibrators, the Yardbirds and the Who.[3] This article or section does not cite its references or sources. ...
