The Telegoons was a BBC television comedy puppet show adapted from the highly successful BBC radio comedy show of the 1950s, The Goon Show. 26 episodes were made. The series was briefly repeated immediately after its original run and all episodes are known to survive (having been unofficially released on the Internet). Comedy is the use of humor in the form of theater, where it simply referred to a play with a happy ending, in contrast to a tragedy. ... We believe that The Telegoons, which represents an overlooked (but never forgotten) chapter in the history of British television comedy and puppetry, deserves to be seen again.

It is widely acknowledged that they pushed the boundaries of TV comedy using a format that the likes of 'Monty Python Flying Circus' would may hugely popular in the late 60's and 70's.
The Telegoons was not particularly successful with its adult audience.
However, it was popular with the younger television viewing generation which led to regular Telegoon comic strips in 'TV Comic'.
