The movie is based loosely on the novel The Three Musketeers (Les Trois Mousquetaires) by Alexandre Dumas, père.
The three musketeers flee the scene and d'Artagnan is captured by the evil Captain Rochefort and blamed for the other captain's murder.
Meanwhile Richelieu is cornered by the three musketeers, and the King himself throws Richelieu into the deep water, thus drowning the evil Cardinal and saving France and his family.
