"The Trouble with Love Is" is the fourth and final single from pop rock singer Kelly Clarkson's debut album, Thankful. It was co-written by Clarkson, Evan Rogers, and Carl Sturken and co-produced by Rogers and Sturken. A bluesy number, it has Clarkson explaining how love can be wonderful but also what the trouble with love is. However, this failed, as "The Trouble with Love Is" had slight R&B/soul influences that were unsuitable for airplay of ballads at the time. "The Trouble with Love Is" continued a trend started by Clarkson's previous single "Low", by flopping. The song did chart on the Adult Top 40, Top 40 Tracks, and the Top 40 Mainstream, but failed to do so on the Billboard Hot 100 or the Hot 100 Airplay. The single is most remembered for being Clarkson's first (and to date only) song not to chart on the Hot 100. The song was released as a double A-side in the United Kingdom with *"Low", and not surprisingly it also flopped, peaking at number thirty-five. In contrast, the single performed very well in Australia, peaking at number eleven in the ARIA Singles Chart and achieved gold status. It was not released in Canada.
