Thomas Grey, 2nd Earl of Stamford (c. 1654 - January 31, 1720), only son of Thomas, Lord Grey of Groby, succeeded his grandfather as 2nd earl of Stamford.
In 1697 he became Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, and in 1699President of the Board of Trade, being dismissed from his office upon the accession of Anne in 1702. From 1707 to 1711, however, he was again President of the Board of Trade. On his death without children, his titles passed to his cousin Henry (d. 1739), a grandson of the first earl, from whom the later earls were descended.
The title Earl of Stamford is an extinct title in the Peerage of England.
The Warrington titles became extinct on the death of the seventh Earl of Stamford and third Earl of Warrington in 1883.
ThomasGrey, Lord Grey of Groby (1623–1657) was the oldest son of the first earl, father of the second and a prominent supporter of parliamentry cause in the English Civil War.
