All By Design - a:r:t:i:c:l:e:s (1020 words)
Thornley's band, Big Wreck, has taken a fair amount of heat since its first album was released last fall for a marriage of the essence of '70s Hard Rock to brainy, contemporary guitar shredding.
Thornley shared an arranging class with drummer Forrest Williams, and a few introductions later the Wreck began to ramble.
Thornley resolutely refuses to apologize for his taste in music or how it is (or isn't) reflected in his own.
Thornley Biography (690 words)
For Thornley, this new band is the culmination of more than a decade's worth of playing and writing.
As for the lyrics, Thornley draws heavily on his personal life, although only a few are, in his words, tear-jerkers - "you know, about feeling the pressure of having a family and buying a house, little things like that." He smiles mischievously.
While Thornley is excited about the release of the new album, he's even more stoked at the prospect of getting out on the road.
