Thrakomakedones (Greek: Θρακομακεδόνες from Thrace and Macedonia), is a suburb in the northern part of Athens, Greece. The Athenian plain lies to the east while the forests of Parnitha and the Parnitha mountain is to the west. The mountains are situated to the north and northeast. Thrakomakedones is located on a road linking Varympompi and the mountain including its telepherique (cable car). It is located SE of Thiva, S of Euboea and Oropos, NW of Kifissia and GR-1/E75, N of Athens and N of the Attiki Odos (number 6). The area around Thrakomakedones are made up of residential and urban areas. The farmlands are around Thrakomakedones while forests covers the rest of the area including the south, the west and east with a couple of bushes and grasslands. The street plan is circled in two, with a few layers of streets within the circle aligned mainly from east to west. Most of the population are urban while until the 1960s and the 1970s, the majority of the population were farmers. Suburban housing arrived in the 1990s and continues to this day. The Proastiakos line runs east of Thrakomakedones. On September 7, 1999, the September 1999 earthquake rumbled Thrakomakedones causing minor damages to some homes. One of the school lost one of the three stories. Several fault lines including the Maliza Fault are around Thrakomakedones. In 2003, residents were protesting against a road. Lawyers that represented 26 people protested against that plan. In August 2004, a new stadium for AEK was planned for Thrakomakedones but Thrakomakedones is not part of the AEK area. The soccer team is Akratitos. The new stadium is unplanned and was located near the Olympic Village.
