In music, a tie is when multiple notes of the same pitch are to be played as one note with a duration equal to the sum of the individual notes' durations. In standard musical notation, a tie is denoted with a curved line over the notes, similar to a slur.

In music notation, a tie is a curved line connecting the heads of two notes of the same pitch, indicating that they are to be played as a single note with a duration equal to the sum of the individual notes' note values.
A tie is similar in appearance to a slur.
