Encyclopedia > Tignish

Tignish is a community in Prince Edward Island, Canada. It was discovered in the 1500s, and Prince Edward Island was formed as Ile St. Jean in 1756. At this time, there are 800 citizens living within the municipal boundaries of the community of Tignish, and a further 200 people living within small areas of a 4 mile radius.


Among the businesses in Tignish are the Tignish Heritage Inn, which was a convent from 1867 to 1991, and is now a public Inn. Also, is Eugene's General Store, Olive's Quik-E-Mart, Shirley's Restaurant, Tignish Co-operatives Association Grocery Store, Hardware Store, and Gas Station, Tignish Cultural Center, St. Simon and St. Jude Catholic Worship, and much more.
