Timothy Daly (born March 1, 1956, in New York) is an American screen and voice actor and producer. He is the son of actor James Daly and younger brother of actress Tyne Daly, who is best known for her role as "Mary Beth Lacey" in Cagney and Lacey. A rumor says that his grandfather is former Chief Justice of the United States and Governor of California Earl Warren, bit Tim Daly has stated in interviews that this rumor is false. He is well known for his role as strait-laced older brother, Joe Hackett, on long running NBC sitcom Wings. Ironically, he beat Kevin Conroy for the part, who went on to famously star as the voice of Batman in Batman: The Animated Series (a role he continues to play in the Justice League animated series). He is also known as the voice of Superman in Superman: The Animated Series. Coincidentally, both Daly and Conroy have worked with each other in a couple of crossover episodes. Daly was unable to return as Superman in Justice League (the role then went to actor George Newbern), as Daly was already under contract to star in The Fugitive, a remake of the 1960s classic TV drama (and 1993 film) that aired for only one season (2000-2001). He also appeared on the midseason ABC crime series Eyes, which got good reviews but was canceled after only 5 episodes. Wings was a sitcom that ran on NBC from 1990 to 1997. ... Tim Daly provided the voice for mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent and his caped alter ego, Superman, in Warner Brothers' "Superman: The Animated Series".
Daly is best remembered for his character of Joe Hackett on NBC's hit comedy series "Wings." But his acting career started far away from Hollywood while he was still a student at Bennington College, studying theater and literature and working in summer stock.
