This is a timeline of the Universe describes the events that have occurred and will occur according to prominent theories. Various scientific theories (such as the Big Bang, Plasma cosmology, and the Quasi-steady state) and prominent non-scientific theories (such as creationist cosmologies) describe certian events that have occurred and will occur in the Universe. Theory has a number of distinct meanings in different fields of knowledge, depending on the context and their methodologies. ...
According to the Big Bang theory, the universe originated in an extremely dense and hot state (bottom). ...
Plasma cosmology is a non-standard cosmological model based on the electromagnetic properties of astrophysical plasmas. ...
The quasi-steady state cosmology is a non-standard cosmology suggesting that, rather than a single Big Bang, there have been many, occurring over time. ...
Creationist cosmologies are pseudoscientific arguments by various creationists that a significant portion of the observable universe is a few thousands of years old, and as such, run contrary to the Big Bang Theory, which states that all of the universe is billions of years old. ...

Beginnings
- No Beginning - Steady state theory postulates that the universe has always existed. A deriviative of the steady state, the quasi-steady state theory, postulates a lot of little "big bangs" occurring over time. Plasma cosmology, also, postulates that the universe has always existed.
- 13.7 Billion Years ago - The Standard Model of particle physics predicts the Big Bang (an "expansion" of space and matter) as the origin of the universe. Interpretation of the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe's cosmic microwave background radiation survey has refined the estimate of this date.
- 3893102 BC - Beginning of the current mahayuga, according to Hindu cosmology.
- 2165102 BC - End of the Crita Yuga, according to Hindu cosmology.
- 867102 BC - End of the Treta Yuga, according to Hindu cosmology.
- 6,000 to 10,000 years ago - Some religious cosmologies predict the origin of the universe by a creator.
- 3102 BC - End of the Dwapara Yuga, according to Hindu cosmology.
- 2348 BC - The Flood, as calculated by Archbishop Ussher.
- 428899 AD - End of the Kali Yuga, according to Hindu cosmology.
In cosmology, the steady state theory (also known as the Infinite Universe Theory) is a model developed in 1948 by Fred Hoyle, Thomas Gold, Hermann Bondi and others as a non-standard cosmology to the Big Bang theory (known, usually, as the standard cosmological model). ...

The Standard Model of Fundamental Particles and Interactions The Standard Model of particle physics is a theory which describes the strong, weak, and electromagnetic fundamental forces, as well as the fundamental particles that make up all matter. ...

Artist depiction of the WMAP satellite at the L2 point The Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) is a NASA satellite whose mission is to survey the sky to measure the temperature of the radiant heat left over from the Big Bang. ...
In cosmology, the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) is a form of electromagnetic radiation discovered in 1964 that radiates throughout the universe in the microwave range. ...

In Hindu philosophy (and in the teachings of Surat Shabd Yoga) the cycle of creation is divided into four yugas (ages or eras): Satya Yuga or Krita Yuga Treta Yuga Dwapara Yuga Kali Yuga // The spiritual states of civilization in each yuga In Hindu tradition, the world goes through a...

Religious cosmologies are ways of explaining the history and evolution of the universe based, at least in part, on the acceptance of principles that cannot or need not be justified on the basis of accepted scientific arguments (See also: physical cosmology). ...
