The Tōkyū Tōyoko Line (東急東横線?) is a major commuter train service connecting Tokyo (Shibuya) to Yokohama. The service is operated by the private Tokyo Kyuko Electric Railway company. The name of the line, Tōyoko (東横), is a combination of the first character of Tōkyō (東京) and Yokohama (横浜). History

The first section of the line from Tamagawa to Kanagawa opened on February 14, 1926. Sections were opened incrementally until the entire length from Shibuya to Sakuragicho in Yokohama was opened on March 31, 1932. This service are only available on the rush hours on weekday and it replaces limited express service. Commuter Ltd. Exp. service trains take over local ones at Jiyūgaoka, Hiyoshi and Kikuna. Terminal stations of commuter ltd. exp. and ltd. exp. service trains are Shibuya and Motomachi-Chukagai.


Limited Express

There are 4 limited express trains every hour in daytime. This service is made for competing with Shonan Shinjuku Line and it takes 25 minutes to get to Shibuya from Yokohama, a bit longer than Shonan Shinjuku Line.
