He is best-known for his role as Eddie Albert's and Eva Gabor's outrageous farmhand, Eb Dawson in the television series Green Acres and starred in the movie Gordy. Lester did a play with CBS producer Paul Henning's daughter Linda Kaye, (Betty Jo of "Petticoat Junction") in the 1960s, and soon found himself auditioning for the "Eb" role. Tom taught school for one year in Purcell, Oklahoma before he journeyed to California to follow a dream he had since he was a boy.
Tom said she was the only person who did not put him down when he mentioned the Lord was leading him to acting.
