Classic mode

In response to longtime fans' dissatisfaction with the format introduced in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, Neversoft has added a classic mode, which allows players to skate through both new and remade classic levels in the traditional 10-goal, two-minute time limit mode that was present in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, complete with the stat points scattered all around the levels. In classic mode, the player chooses from one or two levels in which to attempt to complete enough goals to advance. All of the "remade" levels are accessible only through "Classic Mode" although once unlocked, it is possible to use them in any mode except "Story Mode". • The training level is based on the Warehouse level from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater but it is slightly modified (the biggest difference being the concrete slab and quarter pipe on the left side of the level were replaced with a bowl). There is also an entirely new area off to the left that opens up during Story Mode.
• Before going to Australia they stopped in Bangkok, Thailand. This is Eric Koston's birthplace. This game was Koston's last appearance in a Tony Hawk game.

• In the Boston level, the Massachusetts Statehouse can be seen. You can enter through two windows on the side of the building. In there are portraits of politicians who look like clowns. If you enter for the first time on story mode, a Benjamin Franklin impersonator can be seen running out the doorway, and unlocked for play as well if the player follows him down.

Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Special Edition Xbox Console

The Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Special Edition Xbox was issued in October 2004 in conjunction with Activision and online skater magazine caughtinthecrossfire in the United Kingdom. This special edition console was only available as a winner's prize at skateboarding and gameplay competitions to commemorate and promote the release of Tony Hawk's Underground 2 on the Xbox. The artwork was airbrush painted by hand in an urban graffiti style with translucent matt lacquer finish. The artwork covered the top of the case and followed the X shape downwards on the corners of the Xbox. A very limited production run of 10 graffiti style units was commissioned and was issued "Not For Resale". Included with the THUG2 Special Edition console was a matching Crystal Controller S and a Tony Hawk autographed copy of Tony Hawk's Underground 2.
