Anticipating a short run for the series, Warren penned all thirteen episodes of the serial that ITV promised to air. When the show became a success, however, he continued to pen scripts for the programme until 1968, after which he retired. The fame and royalties from creating the series earned him sufficient "clout" to enable him to become involved in projects on his terms, instead of as a necessity for survival (before creating Coronation Street, he only had two writing credits to his name, Shadow Squad and Biggles, two series for Granada).
He also helped write the Beatles-inspired film Ferry Cross the Mersey in 1965.
TonyWarren won the shootout at the start of the match and became the first player to win back-to-back man of the match awards, however he didn't turn in a performance worthy of winning the award a third time running!
TonyWarren was rewarded with the man of the evening award for his solid display in defence for the B team.
Tony made many tackles and helped keep the score down, he also got his name on the score sheet once.
